Contains the following types of materials: photographs, post cards, photo albums. Covers the following war: World War I (WWI). Contains photographs of the following military units: 2nd Field Artillery, 24th Field Artillery, 2nd Division Engineers. General description of the collection: The William J. Snow photograph collection includes photos covering basically his entire career with strong emphasis on his two tours of duty in the Philippines from 1914-1915 and following WWI. There are some very nice portraits photos of some of his West Point classmates, and numerous early family related photographs. The first tour in the Philippines at Camp Stotsenberg is well illustrated photographically both for photos of the architectural facilities and soldier life, as well as numerous photos of native life, customs, living quarters, and native military units. Two units for which there is some photo documentation are the 2nd and 24th Field Artillery Rgiments; many photos dealing with WWI; an entire album of photos of activities of the 2nd Division Engineers and numerous photos of training activities at Fort Sill, Oklahoma; Camp Knox, Kentucky; Camp Jackson, South Carolina; and Schofield Barracks, Hawaii. There is also a series of photos of Major General Snow and others ascending in the basket of a WWI period barrage balloon.
